Mystical Hacienda Teya Wedding in Yucatan, Mexico

I loved shooting Susy & Alex´s Mystical Hacienda Teya Wedding; not just because the place is magical, but because they also happen to be very good friends of mine and planned their day with so much thought & detail.

For starters, these lovebirds chose the iconic Hacienda San Ildefonso Teya in Mérida, Yucatan for their destination wedding because they wanted something different and fell love with the garden area full of sacred ceiba trees. Their friends and family traveled from Mexico City and enjoyed three full days of gatherings, laughter, and much love!

The wedding ceremony was also very meaning! It was led by a local Shaman who performs authentic ancient wedding ceremonies and included several traditions like the cacao that represents abundance, honey that stands for sweetness and a sour tea representing the difficult moments every couple has. The Shaman reminded us all that with love, sweetness, and abundance all problems can be solved together.

The newlyweds’ photo session was AMAZING! Thanks to the wonderful natural light, the love these two have for each other and the bright colored walls of the hacienda. We then headed over to the wedding reception where everybody danced and enjoyed a dessert table full of bite-size sweets along with an exquisite dinner (of course).

You might have noticed that wedding cake too. It was decorated with The Evenstar (seen in The Lord of the Rings). A symbol of Arwen’s love, which she gave to Aragor. On the other hand, Susy’s medieval-inspired wedding dress matched pretty well with the rest of the theme. Along with her eye-catching jewelry.

Thanks so much for inviting me to capture your day. I wish you both nothing less than an incredible life together!!!!
