Some weddings stay with you. This one has never left.
A & H chose Alila Mayakoba, one of the most beautiful luxury resorts in the Riviera Maya, formerly known as Andaz Mayakoba, for their intimate same-sex wedding, and they did it their way entirely. Their ceremony was a traditional Mayan ritual, led by the incredible team at Spirituality Riviera Maya, grounded in the belief that one woman’s success can only lift another’s. Watching two people build a ceremony around that foundation was something else.
The Mayan ritual unfolded on the beach at Alila Mayakoba as the afternoon light dropped low over the Caribbean. Offerings, blessings, and vows exchanged in a setting that felt ancient and intimate at the same time. Just their closest people, the sound of the ocean, and a ceremony that meant exactly what they needed it to mean.
This wedding was featured on HuffPost as part of a story on emotional LGBTQ+ wedding photography — one of the moments I’m most proud of in my career.
A & H, thank you for trusting me with this chapter. It was a privilege I don’t take lightly.
